Bon Iver announces new album, ‘Sable, Fable’

Bon Iver have announced their new album, Sable, Fable, which is set for release on April 11th through Jagjaguwar.

The lead single from the highly-anticipated forthcoming album from Justin Vernon is titled ‘Everything Is Peaceful Love’. It’s set to premiere on BBC Radio 1 on February 13th as the station’s ‘Hottest Record in the World’. It will then be available to stream worldwide on Valentine’s Day.

Additionally, to coincide with the global release of ‘Everything Is Peaceful Love,’ Vernon is sharing a new music video shot and edited by John Wilson, best known for being the star of the hit HBO series How To with John Wilson.

Vernon produced the new album with Jim-E Stack. It was largely made at the Bon Iver musician’s April Base in Wisconsin, which recently underwent renovation after laying dormant for several years.

Work officially began on February 2nd, 2022, when Danielle Haim arrived at the Base with Stack which led to the creation of the duet, ‘If Only I Could Wait’.

Last year, Bon Iver released the three-track EP, Sable, which acts as the opening act of Sable, Fable. The press release explains how the two projects intertwine, stating, “If Sable, was the prologue, then Fable is the book – but together, Sable, Fable is the album, and for that reason it is no fairy tale. There may be something undeniably healing about infatuation, and the intense clarity, focus, honesty and celebration it brings to these songs.”

It also notes: “Like fables, each track instills a lesson, and Fable is about the selfless rhythm required when one is enmeshed with another person or lover – a patient commitment to finding the pace for betterness, and togetherness.”

Vernon will discuss the upcoming project in more detail when he appears in conversation alongside Krista Tippett at the On Air Festival in Brooklyn on February 21st.
