Bob Vylan confirm Dutch headline dates after losing European support slot
Bob Vylan have confirmed details of a headline tour in the Netherlands after losing their support slot for Gogol Bordello on the continent.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the punk duo would no longer be joining Gogol Bordello later this year. The decision was made after one venue, where both acts were due to play in Cologne, stated that Bob Vylan was prohibited from performing.
Vylan explained, “Due to logistical complications, we have decided not to join our friends Gogol Bordello on their upcoming European tour. However, we will be heading to Europe in the coming months for both festivals and headline shows.”
They have now come through with the promise of new European shows. Taking to social media, the band wrote: “Netherlands (speakerphone emoji) You thought we wouldn’t be back!? Tickets on sale Friday 10am CET.”
The pair will play at Paradiso in Amsterdam on September 13th, Doornroosje in Nijmegen on September 15th and 013 KZ in Tilburg on September 16th. They also have a headline date in Prague on September 21st, which was already announced.
Notably, they were previously due to play Paradiso in Amsterdam on September 12th as part of the Gogol Bordello tour, but will now instead headline the same venue a day later.
Gogol Bordello said the decision to pull Bob Vylan from the tour was because it was “logistically impossible … given the circumstances” and said they “worked diligently with our friends Bob Vylan to find a solution but in the end it didn’t work out”.
After Glastonbury last month, Avon and Somerset Police began investigating Bob Vylan. During their performance on the West Holts Stage, lead singer Bobby Vylan (real name Pascal Robinson-Foster) led the crowd through a chant of “Death to the IDF,” referring to the Israeli Defence Force.
In recent days, Blur frontman Damon Albarn became the latest figure to condemn Bob Vylan, stating of their Glastonbury remarks, “It was one of the most spectacular misfires I’ve seen in my life. Especially when he started to goose-step in tennis gear.”
As of writing, Robinson-Foster has not been charged.
