Black Sabbath reveal official book ahead of Ozzy Osbourne’s death anniversary

Black Sabbath have revealed that they are set to release an official book, as it fast approaches the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s death.

The iconic frontman passed away after suffering a heart attack aged 76 on July 22nd, 2025, merely weeks after performing his final blaze of glory in the Back to the Beginning show in Birmingham.

However, the new book The Masters of Reality – Why Black Sabbath Matter was already in the works before the Prince of Darkness said his final farewell, according to photographer Ross Halfin.

The book, overseen by Halfin, is set to include exclusive photographs, memorabilia, and interviews with all four original members of the pioneering heavy metal band.

Announcing the news, the photographer said (via Louder Sound): “Ozzy and Sharon wanted the book out soon after the final show in Birmingham, but Ozzy suddenly passing away caused the music world to stop.”

He added, “Ozzy was fully involved with the book and he signed the book plates months before the final show, as did all the band members. So now, we all thought the time was right, one year after Back to the Beginning, to announce the project. A book we all feel celebrates both Black Sabbath and Ozzy and illustrates just how important they are. I hope fans enjoy it.”

The book is set to be released on an as-yet unspecified date in October, with fans able to pre-order their copies now.

A standard edition will cost them £99, while a Super Deluxe Signed Edition is marked at £650 and a Super Deluxe Signed Metal Edition is £950.

All three editions of the book can also be purchased in a bundle, costing fans an eye-watering £1,600.

It comes as the latest product to be launched in the year since Osbourne’s passing, with his wife Sharon and son Jack announcing in May that he is set to be resurrected as an AI avatar this summer, sparking major controversy that the family has been forced to defend.

Sharon has denied claims that the partnership with Hyperreal is a “cash grab”, saying on The Osbournes Podcast, “I don’t want your fucking money. I don’t need your fucking money. I’m doing very well.”
