
Björk’s film debut in Icelandic film ‘The Juniper Tree’ to be re-released
Icelandic film The Juniper Tree, originally released in 1990 and starring icon Björk, is set to be re-released.
The film, directed and written by Nietzchka Keene, is based on a fairytale of the same name. The cast, a sall and close group of five actors which included a 24-year-old Björk’s feature film debut alongside the likes of Bryndis Petra Bragadóttir, Guðrún Gísladóttir, Valdimar Örn Flygenring and Geirlaug Sunna Þormar.
According to a press release The Juniper Tree has been restored to 4K resolution by the Wisconsin Center for Film & Theater Research. The project has been backed and supported by The Film Foundation and the George Lucas Family Foundation with the image rights having been snapped Arbelos.
The new premiere will take place AFI Fest on Saturday, November 10th.
