Billy Joel’s daughters join him on stage at Madison Square Garden

It’s been a big year for Billy Joel as he has had a busy festival season and done a string of shows in the run-up to Christmas. To finish 2023, he had his two daughters join him on stage for a song at Madison Square Garden.

To round off his residency at the New York stadium, Joel welcomed a few special guests to make the night one to remember. Along with his daughters, Della and Remy, he also had his friend Elvis Costello join him.

Della and Remy were dressed as elves and, keeping in theme with their outfits, sang a rendition of ‘Jingle Bells’ whilst their Dad played the piano. Joel had been playing Christmas songs all night as he had also gone through ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘Silent Night’, and ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’.

When Costello came on, he moved slightly away from the Christmas theme as he played his own ‘Pump It Up’ before the two of them teamed up to do a duet of ‘Allentown’ both of which went down incredibly well, met with cheers from everyone in Madison Square Garden.

Just shy of 100 shows over the year, Joel ended 2023 in style. The Piano Man has always been renowned for curating setlists for the crowd, mixing up which songs appear where and catering his music depending on the time of year. As such, playing a gig in late December was also going to have Christmas connotations to it.

After the gig, Joel took to Instagram to thank his fans for coming out and to share photos of the night. He captioned the image, “Some special guests at show #97”.
