Billie Eilish has spoken about her anger surrounding the death of Rayshard Brooks who is the latest Black man in America to be murdered by police.
On Friday, Brooks was shot in the back and killed while fleeing after an employee from Wendy’s called the police to report a man sleeping in their drive-thru and Eilish, as well as her brother Finneas, have both taken to Instagram to react to the dastardly murder.
Billie’s post read: “Man FUCK. Watching this video made me so fucking angry,” she wrote aside a photo of Brooks. “FUCK THIS SHIT. JUSTICE FOR RAYSHARD BROOKS. FUCK THIS SHIIIIIIIIT. #justiceforrayshard !!!! WHY ISNT [sic] EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT THIS??”
Finneas took to Instagram to write: “Justice for Rayshard.”
Adding: “This is so fucked up man. And such a good example of EXACTLY what’s so fucked up about the police in America. Asleep in his car in a parking lot. Shot to death. Don’t let yourself be numb to this. Don’t let the world stay this way”
After George Floyd’s death, Billie Eilish made this defiant statement defying those who use the phrase “all lives matter” in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. “No-one is saying your life doesn’t matter. No-one is saying your life is not hard… This is not about you,” she wrote.
“Society gives you privilege just for being white… we have to address hundreds of years of oppression of black people.”
