Track of the Day is the first glimpse from the upcoming solo album by former Coral guitarist, Bill Ryder-Jones.
‘Two to Birkenhead’ comes from the equally homely-titled LP West Kirkby County Primary, which will get its full release via Domino, November 6th.
Since leaving The Coral back in 2008, Ryder-Jones has excelled through a host of different projects.
He has become one of the most sought after producers around, getting behind the desk on behalf of Far Out favourites The Wytches on their debut LP Annabel Dream Reader last year, as well as guesting on guitar with Arctic Monkeys.
Add to that a couple of mesmerising film scores and it’s pretty obvious we’re dealing with an infinitely talented musician here.
However, the new album will be the long-awaited to follow-up to A Bad Wind Blows in My Heart – the debut solo effort that was at times sombre, but always encapsulating.
‘Two to Birkenhead’ hints at a slightly rockier direction this time around, with the kind of fuzzed-up alt-pop that conjures memories of Pavement and early Grandaddy.
