Bernie Tormé, the rock guitarist who was previously part of Ozzy Osbourne’s band, has died at the age of 66.
Tormé, who was born in Ireland and became a renowned musician in Dublin, is best known for his work with successful hard rock band Gillan before becoming a pivotal member of Osbourne’s backing band.
Last month Far Out reported the news that Tormé had been hospitalised with a serious bout of pneumonia and was rushed to intensive care. Now, however, his family have confirmed his death.
“Bernie Tormé passed away peacefully on the 17th March 2019, one day short of his 67th birthday, surrounded by his family,” a statement from his family reads.
“He had been on life support for the past four weeks at a London hospital following post-flu complications. Bernie will be remembered for dedicating his life to his music for five decades. He will be sorely missed.”
