Benedict Cumberbatch to play Satan in Neil Gaiman’s ‘Good Omens’

Benedict Cumberbatch’s next role will be to voice the role of Satan in Neil Gaiman’s forthcoming Amazon Prime Video series.

The show, which is based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, is also being co-produced by BBC 2.

While the likes of Frances McDormand, David Tennant and Michael Sheen were already confirmed, Gaiman has revealed that Sherlock star Cumberbatch has been recruited: “It’s a giant animated Satan. He turns up and we needed a performance that works. So we found a young British help that needed a lot of direction from Douglas… Benedict Cumberbatch,” he said while appearing on the panel at the Television Critics Association.

Alongside the aforementioned names the likes of Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, Miranda Richardson, Anna Maxwell Martin and Mireille Enos are also included.
