Beach House – Sparks

Track of the Day over at Far Out this radiantly fine Saturday comes courtesy of a Baltimore dream-pop duo who have made a monumental return.

Beach House have been pretty quiet since the release of their last album Bloom, which was released three years ago now.

But thanks the lord that by no means suggests they have gone off the boil, as they have proved with this outstanding new single ‘Sparks’, out on Sub Pop.

The track maintains the otherworldly and ethereal vibes that have become the band’s trademark, but also features as glimpse of some slightly more abrasive guitar work, taking Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand into shoegaze territory.

One thing’s for sure, however, this first insight into the upcoming album Depression Cherry (which will be with us August 28th) has got us gagging for more.
