Natasha Khan, AKA Bat For Lashes, spent most of her fifth album, Lost Girls, trying to create a Molly Ringwald world for us all to live in. It meant that when she went on tour in support of the record she pulled out some ’80s classics.
It was a touching moment of her tour which saw Khan pay homage to the eighties forebearers to the pastel pink world she was creating. This cover ranks among the best.
It saw Khan take on Cyndi Lauper’s version of ‘I Drove All Night,’ a triumphant rendition of Kate Bush’s ‘This Woman’s Work,’ and now a cover of Don Henley’s ‘The Boys Of Summer.’
That cover has been given an official release as part of a live EP from Bat For Lashes. The live recording comes from her set at the Evolutionary Arts Hackney theater in London, last November.
This particular track was an acoustic set and saw Khan expose the sentiment of the track. The EP also features introspective, intimate readings of Lost Girls highlights ‘Desert Man’ and ‘The Hunger,’ as well as the iconic Bat For Lashes track ‘Daniel’.
