Banksy’s paintings worth £13million seized by Belgian officials
After shocking the art world last month with his self-destructing painting Banksy is again in the news for his work, but this time it’s because £13million worth of his work has been seized by Belgian officials.
The bailiffs seized 58 pieces of Banksy’s work including some of his most famous pieces such as his ‘kissing policemen’ from an exhibition after an ownership debate with his former manager.
The works were removed from the Strokar Inside gallery in Ixelles, Brussels, on Thursday night. The show, named ‘Banksy Unauthorised, has now been officially cancelled.
The seizures came after the owners of the gallery informed the proper authorities that the paintings may not be insured correctly and they feared what would happen if they were damaged or stolen.
