Copenhagen’s Baby In Vain have released ‘Transcendent’; their first new track since 2016 EP For The Kids.
“We had a very intense week of songwriting in our rehearsal room last summer,” Andrea Thueson said. “We were trying to write this one song, and it just didn’t want to be written. We jammed and jammed but we were stuck. One day we went outside to say hello to the sun and clear our minds a little, and suddenly this melody got stuck in my head. I don’t know where it came from, but it was there to stay,” she added.
“Bene came up with these insanely tight yet crazed drums, and Lola added what is basically the climax of the song within a few hours. The vocal melody was there, but not the lyrics.
“The lyrics for this one was hard to write. I couldn’t really wrap my head around anything specific at that time, and it wasn’t until we were in the studio recording the album for the first time, that I was able to.
“Our first shot at recording this album went terribly wrong, and it was a very weird and distressing time. I was very anxious the whole time, so it seemed appropriate and relevant to write about anxiety. How it consumes you and leaves no room for rational thinking or any other emotions.”
Baby In Vain return to the UK and begin a run of shows alongside Manchester’s PINS.
