Autumn foliage trains let you explore the wonders of the Alps by train

Autumn can be a quieter time for travel with most wanderers choosing warmer times of the year. Don’t miss out on the natural treats that this season has to offer with the golds, yellows and browns come a different feel to the Northern hemisphere with Europe being particularly rich in colour.

A ‘Foliage Train’ has been organised in the Alps by Vigezzina-Centovalli railway. This historical track is in the heart of the Piedmontese Alps, Italy, and has the aim of giving tourists the chance to take in the Alps in all its autumnal beauty.

This slow train will traverse a 52-kilometre journey across 82 bridges from Italy to Switzerland and back. Guests travel from the Italian City of Domodossola in the Alps to the Swiss city of Locarno on Lake Maggiore.

The journey meanders through the delicacies and explores the villages museums, sanctuaries, and autumnal gardens. With scheduled stops at Santa Maria Maggiore and Malesca, Villette, Re, Intragna, it is possible for guests to board at either end. On top of that, it has also been made available to plan a stop at either Vigezzo Valley, Italy or Centovalli in Switzerland.

This is a limited offer with trains running from the 13th October until 4th November. Autumn is a season to celebrate much like its counterparts so take advantage of these white and blue trains if Vigezzina-Centovalli this autumn.
