Austin Butler stars in trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Caught Stealing’
The first trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing, starring Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz, has been released.
The Oscar-nominated director’s new movie will be released on August 29th, 2025, in cinemas worldwide. It marks Aronofsky’s first picture since The Whale in 2022, which won lead actor Brendan Fraser an Academy Award.
The official synopsis for Caught Stealing reads: “Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) was a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore, but everything else is going okay. He’s got a great girl (Zoë Kravitz), tends bar at a New York dive, and his favourite team is making an underdog run at the pennant.
It continues: “When his punk-rock neighbour Russ (Matt Smith) asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, Hank suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters. They all want a piece of him; the problem is he has no idea why. As Hank attempts to evade their ever-tightening grip, he’s got to use all his hustle to stay alive long enough to find out…”
The movie is based on Charlie Huston’s 2004 novel of the same name. Huston also produced the screenplay for the motion picture.
Regina King, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Benito A Martínez Ocasio, and Carol Kane are among the other names who appear in Caught Stealing.
Benito A Martínez Ocasio is better known as Bad Bunny, one of the most popular musical artists on the globe. While he’s new to the acting world, Aronofsky was full of praise during a recent interview with Vanity Fair, sharing, “Here was a character that he fit really well and he was great. He was so down-to-earth, and he was so one of us, and so part of the team.”
However, Ocasio’s immense popularity did cause security worries. The director revealed: “We were constantly terrified that the neighborhood would be overthrown as soon as they found out that Benito was there. He was also a good sport. He actually would come to set and then just camp out there, knowing he was not going to be able to get back to his trailer or anywhere.”
Caught Stealing is released on August 29th, 2025.
