A$AP Relli breaks silence following A$AP Rocky’s acquittal: “Say bad things about me”

A$AP Relli has spoken out for the first time since A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of shooting him earlier this week. Rocky was charged with two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm but was acquitted on February 18th.

Days after the verdict was read in a Los Angeles courtroom, Relli took to his Instagram Stories to react to the jury’s decision. In his message, he called out people for “gossiping” and speaking down on him.

“Gossiping is a form of entertainment for people who have no meaningful goals or purpose in life,” he wrote on February 20th. “Hate me, bring shame to my name, say bad things about me, I don’t care. Your existence doesn’t add any value in my life.”

Relli testified that Rocky fired two shots at him from a handgun and grazed his knuckles in an incident that took place in Hollywood in 2021. Had he been found guilty, Rocky could have been sentenced to 24 years.

His defence attorney, Joe Tacopina, claimed that Rocky fired a prop gun, which he took from a music video set for security reasons. Deputy district attorney Paul Przelomiec called the argument “absurd.”

Rocky told the jurors as they were exiting the courtroom, “Thank y’all for saving my life.” While speaking to reporters next to his partner, Rihanna, he added, “You got to thank God first. I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision. I’m just so thankful. This is crazy right now.”

He continued, “This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful, nonetheless. I’m thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man.”

District Attorney Nathan Hochman issued a statement that respected the jury’s decision. “Our office remains committed to seeking accountability for those who break the law, no matter their status or influence,” he said. “Fame does not place anyone above the law, and we will not waver in our pursuit of justice for victims and the community.”

Shortly after the trial ended, Rocky posted on X about his upcoming album, Don’t Be Dumb. The project will be his first in seven years, following the release of Testing in 2018.
