The world lost a legend a few weeks ago as the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, sadly passed away. Tributes poured out from across the globe showing that Franklin’s presence and loss was felt all over the world. It seems fitting then that the entire world will be able to mourn her passing at her funeral on August 31st as the service will be live streamed and show on American television.
On Friday, August 31, Aretha Franklin will be honoured and mourned with a funeral service in Detroit. The service will feature performances from Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Chaka Khan, and others it was reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
The service will also be viewable online and via some TV channels. With segemnts of the tribute being broadcast on CNN and Fox News in the US, while the live stream will come courtesy of the Associated Press.
Aretha Franklin, Lady Soul, died on August 16th after a battle with pancreatic cancer, she was 76.
A public viewing will take place on August 28 and 29 at Detroit’s Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
