Arctic Monkeys are officially back after four years after their first live date of 2018 was announced today.
The Sheffield band top the bill at Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival alongside Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and The Killers.
Fans have been waiting for news of a new album for since Alex Turner was photographed reunited in his home-town with his bandmates in December 2016, when he confirmed they had begun work on their 5th record.
Arctic Monkeys’ last record, AM, became the band’s fifth consecutive number one upon its release in September 2013, meaning they were the first band to achieve this feat on an independent label.
During the group’s hiatus, members of the band have started families while Alex Turner toured the world with The Last Shadow Puppets and scored another number one record.
Rumours are rife that the Arctics will return to Sheffield to headline the 10th anniversary of Tramlines festival this July, with the festival moving to a bigger venue.
News of a new record and a full tour is reportedly imminent.
