‘American Pie’ star Tara Reid says she was drugged at hotel bar and hospitalised
American Pie actor Tara Reid has opened up about a recent hospitalisation, which she said was a result of being drugged at a hotel bar.
The incident took place on November 22nd at a hotel in Chicago. Reid is said to have ordered a drink at the bar at 10:30pm before heading out for a cigarette, and leaving her drink.
Upon returning to the bar, which is said to have been around 30 minutes after it was ordered, Reid alleges that a napkin was on top of the drink, which she claims not to have placed. Her next memory is waking up in hospital.
Footage has since emerged of Reid in a wheelchair in the hotel and being taken to the hospital.
Reid told TMZ Live during an interview on November 24th, “Without finishing my drink, I just passed out.” She continued, “Before I knew it, I was at the hospital, eight hours later. It’s really scary… You have to really be careful with your drink. [The hospital] said, ‘You got drugged last night at the bar.”
The actor described the explanation from the hospital as “vague” and stated she wasn’t informed what drug was in her system.
In a statement to The Independent, a representative for Reid confirmed that it was now being dealt with by the police.
They shared, “Tara Reid has filed a police report after an incident in which she believes her drink was tampered with. She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time.”
The statement continued: “She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone. She will not be making further comments at this stage.”
