Alison Brie and Dave Franco pull off bizarre publicity stunts for new movie ‘Together’
Alison Brie and Dave Franco have taken the publicity for their new horror flick, Together, to new extremes, as strange videos of the pair surface on the internet.
The couple, who have been married since 2017, will play a co-dependent couple who move to the countryside but encounter a mysterious force that horrifically causes their bodies to merge.
As of late, their public appearances have mirrored this co-dependent dynamic. This week, video footage of Brie cutting Franco’s toenails while they shared a picnic blanket in Griffith Park in Los Angeles surfaced on social media. Brie then discarded the clippings in the grass as Franco continued absent-mindedly scrolling through his phone.
X account Pop Base also posted another bizarre publicity stunt, which saw Franco and Brie sharing a singular potato fry at a fast food establishment. The caption to the video read, “Dave Franco and Alison Brie spotted sharing a fry at Wendy’s.”
On July 17th, the married couple decided to involve movie-goers in the publicity. They announced a contest that offers a free Las Vegas wedding to the winning couple who creates the most creative proposal at a movie theatre.
Launched by film company Neon, the contest asks that couples film their proposal at a theatre showing Together and share it on their social media, using the hashtag #TogetherContest. Moviegoers have until August 3rd to comply. Franco used a few words of encouragement: “The crazier the better.”
Together has also hit the headlines for other reasons. The couple in question, as well as writer and director Michael Shanks, have been named defendants in a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement on the upcoming film. The lawsuit alleged Together is a “blatant rip-off” of Better Half, a 2023 independent movie written and directed by Patrick Henry Phelan.
Together will hit cinemas in the US on July 30th, and in the UK on August 21st.
