South-African singer/songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou has been capturing our hearts and minds with her recent releases from her debut LP Paper Castles. The album’s songs have been rich in relevance to our society and sumptuous in their delivery, we’ve now got an unreleased live session of her song ‘Drive By’ as our Track of the Day.
The album is out now and we suggest, as soon as you’ve finished listening to this beautiful number that you go and listen immediately if you haven’t already. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom, Cate Le Bon, iLe), Paper Castles proves a strikingly dynamic work, rich with both whispers of nostalgia and an unstoppable sense of forward motion.
Lou explains that the album is “about growing into a woman, about the pain and beauty of the past, about feeling small and insignificant but finding that to be powerful and beautiful, about acknowledging that childhood is over but bringing some of it with you.”
‘Drive By’ is another extension of this as it deals in an unhurried and bittersweet tone and offers Lou’s incredibly touching vocal while the imagery of the video offers similar tonal appreciations.
