Alice Cooper announces tell-all memoirs and UK book tour

Alice Cooper has announced his new memoirs, Devil on My Shoulder, as well as an intimate UK tour to coincide with its release.

The run of shows, comprising eight dates, will see Cooper joined by a guest moderator each night, plus an audience Q&A, and provide an insight into the truth from the fiction of his career.

Following the book publication on October 8th, Cooper will begin the tour on October 11th in Cardiff, with dates also set in Cambridge, London, Brighton, Manchester, Stockton, Glasgow and Wolverhampton.

Explaining the title, Cooper succinctly said in a press release, “I’ve lived my life with an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.”

Elaborating on the difference between his on-stage and off-stage persona, Cooper added, “I was born Vincent Damon Furnier but, seduced by my character’s reputation, changed my name legally to Alice Cooper, and in the process lost sight of who I really was. The mild-mannered, all-American boy I’d once been became a monster and a mortal danger to himself.”

He also admitted to flirting with the truth across his career, which will now be unveiled for the first time, adding, “Me and Alice were getting creative with the truth long before the Age of Fake News. Now, after over thirty records and sixty-plus years of fibs and fabrications, I think it’s time to sort the truth from the rumours and lies.

Noting one difference between him and Cooper, he described his stage persona as “a proper senile delinquent playing hundreds of gigs every year, while I myself am reformed.”

Cooper then explained why now is the right time to release his autobiography, sharing, “And with the benefit of hindsight and a certain maturity, I’d like to describe our journey to Hell and back together, because it’s not only rock stars who can lose their way.”

This summer, Cooper will be returning to the UK alongside Joe Perry and Johnny Depp as part of The Hollywood Vampires.

The run will kick off at The O2 in London on August 12th, followed by outdoor dates in Cardiff and Scarborough. They also have arena dates planned in Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham, subsequently.
