Alabama Shakes announce huge London show as first UK gig in 10 years
Alabama Shakes have announced that they are set to return to the UK for the first time in ten years to perform a huge show at Alexandra Palace in London.
The American trio recently released their first new music in over a decade in the form of their latest single ‘Another Life’, following on from their last album Sound and Colour, which came out all the way back in 2015.
It comes as the band – consisting of singer and guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, and bassist Zac Cockrell – have just wrapped on their reunion tour of North America, which ran from July to September this year and marked the first activity since their disbandment in 2018.
Announcing their reunion via social media back in February, Howard said: “Last year, Heath, Zac, and I started chatting about how much fun it would be to make music together and tour again as Alabama Shakes. This band and these songs have been such a source of joy for all of us.”
The new London show, set to take place at Alexandra Palace on July 3rd, 2026, will take place almost ten years to the day since Alabama Shakes last performed in the UK.
At the time, they took to the stage at BST Hyde Park in London in the summer of 2016, following on from the release of Sound and Colour the previous year.
With the band allegedly working on more new potential music for 2026, to go alongside the single ‘Another Life’, they are also set to hit a range of stages across Europe over the course of the summer, including in Gent, Lucca, and Lisbon.
Alabama Shakes have reunited without their former drummer Steve Johnson, who was charged in 2020 with domestic abuse against his ex-wife. Subsequently, he was also accused of child abuse in 2021, although this charge was later dropped.
Having now moved forward as a trio for their most recent tour, Alabama Shakes are set to make a triumphant comeback to the UK next summer. Tickets will be available from 9am local time on November 21st, while presale will be available from 9am local time on November 19th.
