Adam Sandler promises 50 more movies before his death
Adam Sandler has vowed to make 50 more movies before he reaches his deathbed.
The Uncut Gems actor has starred in 70 movies across his career, ranging from the likes of Happy Gilmore to Grown Ups, Just Go With It, and, most recently, Jay Kelly. Though typically faring best in comedic roles, Sandler has often proven that he is a committed, fierce performer in every type of role.
In recognition of his impressive discography, Sandler won the Career Achievement Award at AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards. Upon accepting the award, Sandler looked ahead toward the rest of his time in the film industry.
Sandler joked, “I don’t know how much time I have left — 60, 70 years. 80 tops, maybe 90 if I start working out and taking creatine.”
He added convivially, “I promise to everyone here tonight, I will make at least 50 more movies before I am dead — and at least 25 of them will be good.”
The Hollywood icon recently reprised his role in the sequel, Happy Gilmore 2, which was produced under Happy Madison Productions, which Sandler founded in 1999. They have also produced Anger Management and 50 First Dates.
Sandler is currently filming Roommates alongside Natasha Lyonne and Nick Kroll. The comedy will star his daughter, Sadie Sandler, inspired by the true story of college roommates. It is set for release on Netflix.
For his performance in Jay Kelly, Sandler has been nominated for a Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Gotham Film Award.
While accepting the Chairman’s Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards gala, the star reflected, “I’ve been doing movies [for] like 40 years now. It’s fucking pretty insane. I don’t know how it happened. But I’ve loved every minute of it.”
