Adam Green shares new song 'That Fucking Feeling'

Do you ever get tired of how pretentious music can be? Flowery language, gratuitous overuse of metaphors, indecipherable gibberish all in the name of “art”. Well have no fear, fellow weary listener, for the solution is here: former Moldy Peaches guitarist/singer Adam Green’s direct and curt ‘That Fucking Feeling’

“I wanted to release something home recorded,” Green explained. “Back in the Moldy Peaches days I used to record everything on my parent’s kitchen table, but it’s been 20 years since I put out something like that. I wrote a few songs in quarantine singing into my laptop, and I like how direct it feels. Not every song has to be big, this is just a little song that felt like a sweet moment captured. I think of myself as a singing man, maybe that’s how I’m most comfortable in life.”

The real joy of this song is not, as it turns out, giggling every time Green drops another F-bomb in his inimitable monotone drawl, although that is fun too. The actual pure delight is in the DIY home recording that makes those blunt words all the more powerful and hilarious.

If this were a super produced, fully fleshed out work, it would run the risk of using up all its cheeky goodwill well before it even gets off the ground. But because the song is a simple sub-two minute “guy and his guitar at home” kind of tune, lines like “God really loves me/God wants to trust me/And I’m doing no one/But I’m getting sloppy” get to ring out in all their ragged glory.

Like the rest of the world, Green took a breather in 2020, releasing only an Old Hollywood spaghetti western-style cover of the Misfits ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’. Green is an artist adept at working at his own pace, sometimes frantic, sometimes lulling, but always welcome upon return.
