Adam Driver refuses to be drawn into claims made by Lena Dunham in memoir

Adam Driver refused to be drawn into claims made about him by Lena Dunham in her memoir while at the Cannes Film Festival.

Dunham recently released her new memoir, Famesick, in which she details a number of experiences with Driver while on the set of the hit HBO sitcom, Girls.

In the book, she recounted one particular time when Driver allegedly threw a chair at the wall after growing frustrated with Dunham after she forgot her lines.

Per The Independent, Dunham wrote, “Late one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I’d written them. I’d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer — until finally, Adam screamed, ‘FUCKING SAY SOMETHING’ and hurled a chair at the wall next to me. ‘WAKE THE FUCK UP,’ he told me. ‘I’M SICK OF WATCHING YOU JUST STARE.’”

Dunham also described him as “something feral” and “half-man, half-beast”, as well as alleging he once punched a hole in the wall of his trailer due to not liking his haircut.

Driver did not respond to the claims at the time of publication, but while promoting his new film, Paper Tiger, at Cannes Film Festival over the weekend, he was probed on the subject.

He told The Guardian, “I have no comment on any of that – I’m saving it all for my book.”

Driver’s new film, directed by James Gray, sees him star alongside Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller, and received a lengthy standing ovation following its world premiere at Cannes.

Notably, Johansson was missing from the world premiere, and although director Gray attempted to call the actor during the standing ovation, she reportedly did not answer the phone.
