Actor Awards 2026: Noah Wyle becomes first male actor to sweep all major television awards for ‘The Pitt’

It was a historic night for Noah Wyle at the Actor Awards 2026, after he became the first male actor to sweep all the major television categories during the current award season for his role in The Pitt

At the ceremony held in Los Angeles on March 1st, Wyle individually took home the prize for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series’, as well as scooping the biggest TV award of the night with the wider cast of The Pitt, in ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series’.

This brings his entire run of accolades over the course of the 2025/2026 awards season to six, having previously also won the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’ and the Golden Globe for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama’, along with the TCA Award for ‘Individual Achievement in Drama’.

The Actor Awards represent the pinnacle of the acclaim Wyle has wracked up over the last year, which he jokingly reflected on by saying (via Gold Derby): “The mantle’s getting full. My daughter’s cleared a space for [the Actor Awards]. We’ve moved two vases out of the way in anticipation, not to be cocky or presumptive, but she was confident.”

The smash hit HBO medical drama The Pitt is in the midst of its second series, with Wyle playing the lead role of Dr Michael. The show has been roundly praised for its realistic depictions of the struggles faced by healthcare professionals in the US.

To this end, Wyle used his speech to highlight the importance of the SAG-AFTRA union for actors so they can continue performing, to which he added: “I love being an actor. I love actors – working with you, playing with you, and when necessary, marching alongside of you has been the greatest joy of my life.”

After winning the award, the actor then headed backstage and was asked by reporters about the future of the show, where he confirmed that a third series of The Pitt is currently in the works.

He said: “There’s never a shortage of storylines to pull from in an emergency room. And when you have characters that are as rich and diverse and as multidimensional as the ones that we have, it’s very easy to plot them into the future and figure out what they would be struggling with at that point.”

Wyle also explained the process of writing The Pitt by adding: “We take a lot of meetings with experts from every vector of healthcare that you can think of and ask them what should be on TV, what would be helpful to the work that they’re doing. We’re just going to begin that process in the next few weeks.”
