Activists hang image of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in police car at the Louvre
A group of activists have hung an image of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in a police car, following his arrest last week, in the Louvre.
Mountbatten-Windsor, who was formerly known as Prince Andrew and the Duke of York before losing his royal titles due to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested on February 19th, before being released several hours later.
Andrew remains under investigation on suspicion of misconduct in public office, but has not been charged with any offences.
A photo of him leaving the police station in the back of a Range Rover covered the front pages of newspapers across the world on February 20th, and then, on February 22nd, it was hung up in the Louvre by activists from the group Everyone Hates Elon.
Underneath the image, a caption read, “He’s Sweating Now,” in reference to Mountbatten-Windsor’s infamous claim that he can’t sweat during a 2019 interview on Newsnight in relation to his connections with Epstein.
However, it only lasted 15 minutes before a member of staff at the Louvre took down the picture.
The activist group, according to their Instagram bio, are “taking on billionaires and their politician mates”. They recently took on Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe after the INEOS founder told Sky News that Britain had been “colonised by immigrants”.
In response to his remarks, Everyone Hates Elon hung a billboard outside of Old Trafford that reads, “Immigrants have done more for this city than billionaire tax dodgers ever will”.
Additionally, when Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was getting married in Venice, they made the following statement in the Italian city, “If you can rent Venice for your wedding you can pay more tax”.
In an Instagram post on February 23rd, Everyone Hates Elon explained their reasoning for hanging the image of Mountbatten-Windsor at the Louvre, writing, “We’re sick of obscenely rich powerful men thinking they can just do as they please. So when he was arrested, we wanted to show ex-prince Andrew how the world will remember him by hanging his arrest photo in the Louvre.”
They sarcastically continued, “Unfortunately for Andrew, our action has been covered around the world 🙁 We’ve embarrassed him on front pages EVERYWHERE. It was even plastered all over right wing newspapers and TV. Let’s hope this is just the beginning for abusers like Andrew.”
Mountbatten-Windsor is yet to comment following his arrest last week, but has persistently denied any wrongdoing.
