AC/DC announce return to Australia with huge shows
AC/DC have announced that they will return to Australia for a string of shows in winter this year, marking their first tour in their home country in over a decade.
The band revealed the news via an Instagram post on June 22nd, with a run of five dates across the country’s major cities marking their first dates down under since 2015.
The latest leg of their current tour PWR UP – which initially hit the road between May and August 2024 – will take place in November and December this year across Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane, during all of which AC/DC will be joined by fellow Australian rockers Amyl and the Sniffers as a support act.
The string of Australian dates will take place after a summer of touring the UK and Europe, kicking off in Prague on June 26th and culminating in Edinburgh on August 21st, also marking the band’s first performance in their native Scotland in over ten years.
For this current tour, AC/DC will be debuting their freshest live line-up, consisting of Brian Johnson, Angus and Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and new bassist Chris Chaney.
It comes half a decade on from the band’s most recent album release, Power Up, from which the tour takes its name. Although it marked the end of a turbulent few years for the band, after original founder Malcolm Young passed away from dementia in 2017, the record was a triumphant return to form for the Australian rockers, reaching the number one spot in no less than 21 countries.
Tickets for the Australian leg of the PWR UP tour will go on sale on June 26th, while remaining tickets for their European dates are already available to purchase.
