A24 unveil first trailer for ‘The Drama’, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya

A24 has pulled back the curtains on the first trailer for their much-anticipated upcoming film, The Drama, featuring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya.

The trailer begins with Emma Harwood, played by Zendaya, who works at a publishing house, and British museum director Charlie Thompson, played by Pattinson, stumbling through an awkward meeting with a wedding photographer.

The photographer orders them to smile naturally, but the pair are morose and eerily quiet on an occasion otherwise meant for joy and celebration.

Then, the photographer changes tack, asking the pair their favourite things about each other. Pattinson’s character responds, “She’s beautiful, funny, and she has the best laugh.” Zendaya’s character responds, “I love that he’s caring, understanding, and open-minded.”

The voice-over of their forced compliments is played upon a montage of the couple dancing, giggling, and engaging in sexual intercourse.

However, the short trailer picks up speed as viewers see arguments galore, as well as Zendaya chugging liquor on her wedding day and Pattinson with a bloodied nose, looking aghast as something strange takes hold just before their wedding day.

Alongside the trailer, A24 placed an engagement announcement in The Boston Globe as part of the marketing for the upcoming comedy-drama, announcing the engagement of the couple.

The project is written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, widely known for his 2023 Nicolas Cage-fronted film, Dream Scenario.

The new movie, which finished shooting late last year, also stars Alana Haim, Mamoudou Athie, and Hailey Gates.

Next year, Zendaya and Pattinson will star in two other movies set to hit the big screen: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part 3. Pattinson also recently starred in another film that centred on a troubled relationship, playing a failed musician alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the Lynne Ramsay project Die My Love.

The film will hit cinemas on April 3rd, 2026, in direct competition with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
