Hyper-pop musician and producer A.G. Cook has announced the release of his forthcoming project with a fresh take on the Smashing Pumpkins 1993 classic ‘Today’.
The album, entitled Dream Logic, is due to be released on March 12th via A.G. Cook’s SoundCloud profile. The tracklisting reveals that the release will feature remixes of his own tracks ‘7G’ and ‘Apple’ as well as a slew of other new mixes having already released a take on ‘Describe’ by Perfume Genius.
Grunge and Cook’s glossy electro are two genre’s you might not expect to mix, and you’d be right, Cook’s rework is worlds apart from the original. It takes the melody and runs with it in a glitchy dreamed out direction and explores more of his trademark studio techniques.
Featuring alongside Cook on the record is a mass of stars from the pop world who he has worked alongside, including, Charli XCX, Jónsi, The 1975 and Oneohtrix Point Never among others.
Ahead of the release, the artists made a statement on SoundCloud stating, “Mixes have always been an important format for me – my first work as A.G. Cook was a mix, and I’ve even tried to make my albums mix-like in a way. I love blending edits, remixes, alternate versions and then creating new tracks out of those transitions and in-between moments. Mixes have a dream-like logic where things feel both familiar and unfamiliar, and in ‘Dream Logic’ I tried to combine scenes and atmospheres that only make sense as part of a constantly shifting stream of music.”
