Geezer Butler is an English musician, songwriter and author best known as the bassist, primary lyricist and co-founder of Black Sabbath. Widely regarded as one of the most influential bassists in heavy metal history, Butler played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s dark, heavy sound while writing many of its iconic lyrics. His fascination with literature, religion and the occult helped define classics including ‘Paranoid’, ‘War Pigs’, ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Children of the Grave’. In addition to his work with Black Sabbath, Butler has performed with bands including GZR and Heaven & Hell while pursuing a successful solo career. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Black Sabbath in 2006, Butler remains one of heavy metal’s most respected musicians.
