The first official episode of Night Trippin’ on Resonance Extra has arrived, and India is the first step on Far Out’s worldwide trip.
Hosted by Steven Dove alongside Far Out Magazine’s Lee Thomas, Night Trippin’ pays homage George Harrison, who would have been celebrating his 73rd birthday.
Harrison, who embraced Indian mysticism, is widely credited for broadening the horizons of his fellow Beatles by incorporating Indian instrumentation in their music.
His association with the Hare Krishna movement is no secret, Harrison recorded with the legendary Ravi Shankar and together they organised the historic ‘concert for Bangladesh’.
Harrison had his ashes scattered in the Ganges and Yamuna rivers in India, in a private ceremony according to Hindu tradition.
On this evening’s episode Night Trippin’ you can expect some George Harrison alongside an eclectic playlist of minimalist, electronic, traditional and garage rock music either from or influenced by India.
